Step into the world of Gioachino Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle — a work he famously described as “the last of my sins of old age.” Written in 1863, this extraordinary piece blends the intimacy of chamber music with the grandeur of sacred choral tradition. Scored originally for voices, two pianos, and harmonium, it offers a unique soundscape: at once delicate, dramatic, and deeply moving.
Join us for an unforgettable celebration of one of the 19th century’s most remarkable sacred works — a masterpiece that dances between heaven and earth. On this occassion we will be accompanied by Valerie Barr on accordian, and William Campbell on piano in his final performance with us as he takes up his new post at Peterborough Cathedral.
