Our next concert is on Saturday 21 March and tickets will be on sale in February.
We have started rehearsing two very different settings of the Magnificat.
The first is by C P E Bach (son of J S Bach) and was written in 1749. It was his first large scale work and is conisdered to be a brilliant achievement. The music shows his father's influence but also looks forward to the music of Haydn and Mozart.
Our second Magnigficat was composed in 2014 (revised 2019) by Oliver Tarney. He is a significant young composer of choral works, and he will be visiting to help us prepare our performance. His setting includes the words of the traditional Magnificat but is augmented by texts from other religions.
Rehearsals are on Monday evenings at St James's Church Wetherby. Please contact us at memsec@wetherbychoral.org.uk if you are interesed in joining.
We look forward to seeing you at this unique concert!
