Choir News
- We’d like to say huge thank you to those of you who helped to sponsor an orchestra member, attended our 50th Anniversary Conference and contributed to the RNLI collection after the event. We hope you would all agree that the concert was a huge success. All choir members thoroughly enjoyed the performance. We are happy to confirm that the RNLI collection post-event raised a further £610 to support their vital work! Our Chairlady, Heather Marsh, wrote an article that the RNLI shared in their newsletter. Copy attached.
- The choir recently held our annual Quiz Night managed so wonderfully by our Quiz Manager Extraordinaire, Anne Sweet. Her questions kept us thinking, amused, entertained and at times infuriated! The night raised much needed funds for us.
- Our next fundraiser will be a plant sale. Choir members are frantically preparing seedlings to sell to other members this month, to give us maximum time to get everything into our gardens for the summer.
- Our final event of the season will be a 50th Anniversary “Night Out”. We are planning a River Ouse boat trip from York on July 1st with a simple meal on-board. Who knows, there may even be some informal singing voices raised….
Diary Dates
- Please note a new date for our Organ Recital
- On May 31st at 12:00 noon, our ex-accompanist, Dave Grealy, will be giving an organ recital in St Jame’s Church, Wetherby. Dave left us to start a new job as the Director of Music at Norwich RC Cathedral and we are looking forward to welcoming him back, albeit briefly.
- He will be playing a wide range of music including pieces by Bach, Buxtehude, Mendelssohn and Langlais
-
- Tickets are priced at £10.00 each available on the door and this price includes a light lunch in the Church Hall after the Recital
- Our 2023/2024 season draws to a close with our last performance - “A Feast of Baroque Music”.
- Tickets are on sale now through usual sources via Nicolla Florist, choir members or on the door.
